- With Mac mail open Click on the Mail menu and select preferences
- Click the Accounts tab
- Click the plus icon to create a new account
- Enter this information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
- Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@hennessy-consulting.us).
- Password: Enter your password.
- Click Continue
- Click on the account type and select pop
- Enter this information:
- Description: enter in a name for this account
- For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.hennessy-consulting.us)
- User Name: Enter your full email address
- Password: Enter your password.
- Click Continue
- Do not click the SSL box and click continue
- For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.hennessy-consulting.us)
- Click on the use only this server bo
- Click the check box for Use Authentication box and enter in your user name and password
- Click Continue
- On the “Account Summary” screen make sure all information is correct and click continue
- On the accounts page click on your outgoing mail server and select Edit SMTP Server List
- Click on Advanced and click the radio button Use Custom Port and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
- Click ok to finish your email setup
